Patient Yang Shuqin, 52 years old, was admitted to our hospital with “tearing in the left eye for more than 9 months, loss of vision in the left eye for 3 months, and nasal congestion on the left side for 6 months”. The patient had been treated at Shenyang Medical University First Hospital for optic nerve atrophy, but her condition did not improve and her left nasal congestion worsened, her left eye had no light perception, her light reflex was dull, and her eyeball was bulging. Diagnosis: left nasal polyp, left septal sinus mucus cyst, chronic sinusitis, and optic nerve atrophy. The patient’s condition was serious, and the whole department discussed the condition carefully before the operation, and prepared countermeasures for possible complications during and after the operation. Under local anesthesia, nasal endoscopic removal of nasal polyps and removal of left septal sinus cyst was performed, and postoperative infection prevention and symptomatic treatment were given. Seven days after the operation, the patient had no nasal congestion, no lacrimation and improved vision. At the reexamination one month after the operation, he was able to distinguish the manual index. Visual acuity reached 0.3 at six months of follow-up.
