What are the sequelae of rib fractures

Clinical sequelae of rib fracture include: 1. pain: there are many sensitive pain nerves distributed on the periosteum of the ribs, severe rib fracture, misalignment of the fracture end can stab the intercostal vessels and lungs, causing pneumothorax, resulting in pleural hypertrophy, with typical symptoms of chest pain, which can be aggravated by weather changes; 2. respiratory distress: respiratory distress after activity can occur when the pleura is adherent. Rib fractures are usually caused by external violence. When direct violence is applied to the chest, rib fractures often occur at the site of the blow, with the fracture end breaking inward and the intra-thoracic organs causing damage. When indirect violence is applied to the chest, such as crushing violence to the chest, rib fractures occur at a site other than the point of violence, and the fracture end is outward, which can easily damage the soft tissues of the chest wall and produce a chest hematoma.
