What should I look for in the dietary care of patients with urinary distress?

  The feeling of urinary embarrassment, unpleasant and painful urination, urgency and inability to urinate, or frequent urge to urinate but not particularly urgent, and the feeling of urination after urination are common in acute urinary retention.  Etiology: mechanical obstruction: any obstructive lesion of the bladder neck and urethra.  Dynamic obstruction: There is no organic obstructive lesion in the bladder or urethra.  Hypokalemia due to various causes etiology: such as aldosteronism, diarrhea, long-term application of diuretics, etc., can cause weakness of the bladder forcing muscles and difficulty in urination or even urinary retention. About 60% of patients after 2 weeks of urethritis onset, gonococcal invasion of the posterior urethra develops urinary embarrassment and frequent urination, up to 10 times a day and night. Check urinary routine, kidney function. Ultrasound of the bladder.       Patients dietary attention: 1, limit the intake of meat foods, should eat more fiber-rich coarse grains, limit the intake of sodium, such as, reduce the intake of protein, including meat, cheese, fish and chicken.  2, Do not eat too much oxalate-rich foods, including beans, beets, celery, chocolate, grapes, peppers, parsley, spinach, strawberries and tea. Eat less foods high in oxalate and calcium, such as spinach, rape, kelp, walnuts, milk replacer, sesame paste, pickled scallops, etc. Patients with oxalate stones should avoid foods high in oxalic acid (e.g. tomatoes, asparagus, strong tea). In the case of patients with urate, attention should be paid to minimize the consumption of foods containing high uric acid, such as animal offal, seafood, coffee, cocoa, black tea, chocolate and peanuts, etc.; phosphate stones avoid alkaline foods, general patients do not need to restrict calcium diet.  3, it is best not to drink alcohol, strong tea, strong coffee, should be based on plain water. Diet should be prohibited foods containing high cholesterol, such as animal liver, kidneys, brain, sea shrimp, clams and crabs.  4, patients must develop the habit of drinking more water, generally should drink 1500-2000 ml of water per day as well as juice, light tea and other beverages, such as chrysanthemum crystals, thatch and bamboo cane crystals, summer chrysanthemum, etc.. Of course, attention should be paid to drinking water hygiene, pay attention to water quality, avoid drinking water containing too much calcium.      5, the patient’s diet should be diversified, rich in nutrients and vitamins, such as fresh vegetables, cucumbers, beans, mung bean sprouts; fresh fruits, such as apple sorbet, watermelon, grapes, orange, citrus, etc. Patients with bladder stones should have a light, low protein, low fat diet.
