Collection method of 24-hour urine specimens

Hourly urine specimen collection method (urine microalbumin determination) 1, the container for urine: prepare a clean plastic bucket (size: can hold more than 4000 ml, and with a bucket lid) by yourself (plastic buckets are sold in supermarkets). 2. Urinate once in the morning at a certain time (e.g. 7:00 am), and this time do not urinate (do not put it in the bucket). From this moment onwards, all urine discharged in the next 24 hours should be put into a plastic bucket, until the next morning at 7:00 o’clock, the last urine discharge, this time the urine discharged should be put into a plastic bucket. 3.When filling the first urine into the plastic bucket, you need to pour the antiseptic (provided by the nurse) into the plastic bucket and shake it well. And every time you discharge urine into the plastic bucket in the future, you need to shake the bucket well and cover the bucket with a lid (to prevent urine evaporation). 4.Cover the bucket after collecting urine for 24 hours and wait for the hospital’s special nursing staff to pick it up in the morning. 5.If you have any questions, please consult the nurse or doctor on duty. Caution: During urine collection, do not engage in strenuous activities, avoid straining, and do not consume too much high protein diet.
