How can I tell if I have OCD?

  (1) Repeatedly think about questions that have no real meaning. For example, why do people’s ears grow on the sides of their skulls? (2) Often forcing yourself to count meaningless numbers, such as how many steps you take while walking. (3) Always forcing yourself to remember certain past events. (4) Always worry about losing control of oneself on a certain occasion and doing something illegal. (5) Repeatedly washing hands or changing clothes without understanding or being able to control it. (6) Always suspect that the door or drawer is unlocked and check it several times. (7) After sending a letter, I often suspect that I have written the wrong address and regret that I did not double-check it. (8) There are always contradictions between what I think and what I do on certain occasions, such as standing at the edge of a bridge and almost resisting the urge to jump into the river. (9) For some unimportant things or phenomena, always trying to understand the root cause, the more “confused”. (10) When you see or hear something, you always associate it with something else, such as seeing a car accident and associating it with the accident of your loved one. (11) Doing ritualistic actions repeatedly to get rid of obsessive-compulsive symptoms, such as rubbing hands to get rid of repeated washing. (12) Difficulty in falling asleep after going to bed because of imaginative thoughts. (13) Fear of developing psychosis and pessimism for fear of incurability. (14) Knowing that what you are thinking or doing is irrational but not being able to get rid of it, you are deeply distressed and anxious. If your symptoms match any four or more of the above tips, then you may have OCD.
