Drinking too much water is harmful to the kidneys

Normal people drink too much water will not damage the kidneys, but if patients with kidney dysfunction drink too much water, it can cause kidney damage. If the kidney function is normal, increasing the amount of water can increase urination, but it will not lead to kidney damage or increase the burden on the kidneys. However, for patients with poor kidney function, especially those with hypoproteinemia, increased water consumption will increase the burden on the kidneys, resulting in excessive water in the body that cannot be excreted, causing water retention, which may lead to serious consequences such as water intoxication, heart failure and cerebral edema. Therefore, patients with renal insufficiency should control the amount of water they drink, and it is recommended to drink 500-1000ml of water every day. In daily life, both normal people and patients with renal insufficiency should drink water properly, and too much or too little water for a long time is not good for health.
