Effectiveness of small acupuncture for cervical spondylosis

The effect of small acupuncture treatment for cervical spondylosis depends on the type of cervical spondylosis and the degree of cervical spondylosis, and cannot be generalized. Cervical spondylosis refers to the degenerative changes in the intervertebral discs of the cervical spine and their secondary pathological changes involving the surrounding tissues and structures, affecting the peripheral nerve roots, spinal cord, vertebral artery, sympathetic nerve, etc., and the corresponding clinical manifestations appear. Degenerative changes of the cervical spine without clinical manifestations are called cervical degenerative changes. Cervical spondylosis can be divided into five types: spinal cord type cervical spondylosis, nerve root type cervical spondylosis, vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis, sympathetic type cervical spondylosis and cervical type cervical spondylosis. Spinal cord type cervical spondylosis is caused by herniated discs compressing the spinal cord, resulting in impaired spinal cord signal transmission, which manifests as increased muscle tone in the upper limbs, unstable walking, and a feeling of stepping on cotton in both lower limbs. Neurogenic cervical spondylosis is caused by herniated cervical discs compressing nerve roots, resulting in numbness, pain and decreased strength in the upper limbs and back. Vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis is due to the hyperplasia of cervical joints, which stimulates the vertebral artery and causes symptoms such as vertigo and black dizziness. Sympathetic cervical spondylosis is due to instability of the cervical spine during activity, which stimulates the sympathetic ganglion next to the cervical spine and reflexively causes symptoms in the head, neck, chest and upper limb areas, as well as increased blood pressure, etc. Cervical cervical spondylosis is manifested by long-term inappropriate muscle work, which eventually leads to muscle strain and neck pain; cervical spine joint hyperplasia, which can also cause neck pain. Small acupuncture treatment for cervical spondylosis is a characteristic treatment method of Chinese medicine mainly to loosen the adhesions of the muscles of the neck and back and to relieve the effect of muscle pain. In particular, the neck muscles are sore and uncomfortable, and treatment by small acupuncture will have a good effect.
