A few personal principles regarding the conduct of right axillary incision for congenital heart disease

I have been applying right axillary incision in my clinical practice for more than 5 years, and I often encounter some questions from families, which are listed here. The main reason is that for some complex congenital heart diseases, I think the fixed right axillary incision really increases many risk factors because there are too many uncertainties in the surgery, while these problems do not exist for simple ventricular septal defects and atrial septal defects. 2, at present, the children who personally choose the right axillary incision for the treatment of precordial disease are mainly children from about 1 week old and 10 kg to less than 45 kg, the age or weight is too small instead of damaging the thoracic shape, too large there are many uncertain risk factors. 3, the advantages of the right axillary incision, I think my old patients basically agree, is that the destruction of the thorax shape is minimized, compared with the traditional median thoracic incision, there is no risk of causing chicken chest or sternal depression, there is basically no restriction and preoccupation in wearing clothes, which greatly improves the confidence of the child in later life.
