How long does it take for the scab to come off naturally

The scab can fall off naturally after 5-10 days and the wound is healed. Scabbing is a stage of wound healing and can be seen in all types of skin wounds, especially in the healing process after skin abrasions, burns and scalds. Scabbing is the formation of a hard scab on the wound surface, which protects the granulation tissue under the scab and allows it to grow healthily, prevents infection of the wound to a certain extent, reduces external irritation and alleviates the pain of the patient. The healing time of the wound depends on the depth of the wound, the patient’s constitution and the occurrence of infection. The scab will heal naturally after 5-10 days. If infection occurs under the scab, there will be local redness and pain, and squeezing the scab may cause obvious fluctuation. At this time, the scab should be incised, pus drained, treated with regular dressing changes, and given antibiotic treatment. Therefore, patients should pay attention to protect the scab during the healing process and avoid scratching the scab, which may cause damage to the scab and lead to prolonged healing time.
