Minimally invasive surgery for gastrointestinal tumors

Recently, we performed laparoscopic tumor resection for several patients with gastric and colon cancers in a row. The patients recovered quickly after the surgery and were able to move around in the aisle on the first day after the surgery, feeling relaxed and very satisfied with the experience which was totally different than the imagined horrible experience after the surgery. Some patients next to me were surprised that laparoscopy could also remove the tumor. Some other patients expressed doubts that whether laparoscopic tumor removal is unsafe. Laparoscopic gastrointestinal tumor resection is a method to cut several small holes in the abdominal wall of patients and complete tumor removal under the guidance of monitor with special instruments. This technique has been carried out for many years at home and abroad, and the treatment effect has been recognized at home and abroad. Moreover, it is called minimally invasive surgery because of the small incision, little damage and quick recovery after surgery. At present, it has been widely carried out in many large hospitals in China. In the future, more and more hospitals will carry out this surgery for the benefit of patients.
