Management of spinal cord injury complications

  To date, spinal cord injury is still a worldwide problem, especially for patients with complete spinal cord injury, and spine surgeons and neurosurgeons around the world are still at their wits’ end. Spinal cord injury can lead to physical disability and incontinence, while a series of complications arising from spinal cord injury can be directly life-threatening and require special attention and active management. In addition to medical professionals, it is also important to have some general understanding of these complications as patients themselves and their families; after all, the vast majority of patient care and rehabilitation takes place in their own homes.
