Cough and tracheal pain is often due to inflammation of the respiratory system, as it is associated with congestion and edema, as well as redness, swelling, heat and pain. Anti-inflammatory treatment can relieve the symptoms of cough and tracheal pain. The first thing to do is to check the blood count, C-reactive protein and mycoplasma antibodies. If there is a cough with tracheal pain and elevated white blood cells, it is often a bacterial infection and can be treated with cefixime, cefradine or cefadroxil for anti-inflammatory treatment. If there is a positive mycoplasma antibody, it is often a mycoplasma infection and needs to be treated with azithromycin or roxithromycin. Cough suppressant treatment is also effective to avoid pulling on the trachea, and can be performed with amiloride oral solution, pulmonary cough combination, or fenagan syrup.
