What are the dangers of ostomy surgery

Stoma surgery is a way in which the doctor makes an opening in the patient’s abdominal wall and artificially pulls out the bowel or bladder puncture to achieve bowel movement. The main hazards of stoma surgery are stoma retraction, stoma stenosis, parastomal hernia and so on. 1. Stoma retraction: If the mesentery is too short, the length of the intestinal segment to be pulled out of the stoma is not long enough and the tension is too high, it may cause stoma retraction. 2. Stoma stenosis: If the stoma ischemic necrosis or retraction, chronic intestinal obstruction may cause stoma stenosis. 3. Parastomal hernia: It is caused by various reasons of increased intra-abdominal pressure, which leads to intestinal prolapse through the side of stoma and parastomal hernia. Causes of increased intra-abdominal pressure include: severe coughing, vomiting, growth of intra-abdominal tumors, pregnancy, postoperative malnutrition, advanced age, and wound infection. After the stoma surgery, you should follow the doctor’s instructions, do a good job of postoperative care, eat a light diet, eat more easily digestible food, do not eat fried food and some harder food, such as almonds, melon seeds, etc., and pay attention to rest.
