Many parents and friends are very concerned about their son’s “penis”, not only for the future of the family, but also for the future of their son’s “sexual” life. When a boy is born, the glans penis is tightly wrapped by the foreskin, the foreskin can not be turned up to reveal the glans, which is physiological. Under normal circumstances, with the growth of age, the penis and package batch will gradually develop, to puberty, due to the growth of the spongy body of the penis, the foreskin will retreat backwards, so that the glans is naturally revealed. However, there are a significant number of people, the foreskin completely covers the glans, can not make it flip up to let the glans out, this is often said to be prepuce. There are also some children who cannot turn their foreskin over to reveal the glans due to repeated inflammation or trauma caused by narrowing of the foreskin, which we call secondary prepuce. In children with prepuce, the opening of the foreskin is small and difficult to turn up. If the foreskin mouth and the urethral orifice are exactly in the same position, the narrowing of the foreskin mouth does not affect urination, otherwise it will be as thin as a line when urinating, the foreskin bulges and expands into a water sac, and even the phenomenon of poor urination or difficult urination occurs. From a medical point of view, we do not recommend routine circumcision of newborns. As the baby grows, the foreskin will gradually separate from the head of the penis, a process that takes about three years or more, so circumcision is generally not recommended before the age of three. However, the timing of the procedure is determined by different customs in different places, and currently in some places circumcision is done during the newborn period. It is important to note that the following conditions exist, it is necessary to operate for the child: 1, repeated occurrence of foreskin glansitis, manifested as the foreskin or foreskin edge redness, swelling, pain; 2, repeated occurrence of urinary tract infection, mainly manifested as frequent urination, urinary urgency or with painful urination; 3, the occurrence of urination difficulties, urination effort, urination when the foreskin bulge, “bubble”. The foreskin bulges when urinating, showing a “bubble” shape. If parents decide to circumcise their baby, although it is a safer procedure with fewer complications, it is still recommended to find an experienced doctor to complete the circumcision. Circumcision is usually done electively, and most parents choose to do it for their children during holidays or summer and winter vacations. I suggest that it is better to do the surgery during preschool and summer vacation, and the key is the convenience of post-operative care. For the treatment of circumcision and narrow circumcision, in addition to circumcision, you can also perform local separation of the foreskin expansion.
