Patients with severe post-thrombotic venous syndrome of the lower extremities

Deep vein thrombosis of the lower extremities is a common disease in vascular surgery, usually caused by trauma, surgery, prolonged bed rest, and tumors resulting in a hypercoagulable state. After its occurrence, severe swelling of the lower limbs occurs, and even life-threatening pulmonary embolism with thrombosis occurs in some patients. It should be diagnosed and treated immediately after the onset of the disease. Due to the complete blockage of veins by thrombus, inflammatory reaction of vessel wall and serious destruction of venous valve function, lower limb swelling of different degrees will appear when patients walk on the ground and stand for a long time after the acute treatment, among which one third of patients have more serious symptoms appear. Severe lower limb edema, secondary varicose veins, dermatitis, hyperpigmentation, depressed ulcers, etc., seriously damage the health of working people. This is called the sequelae of lower extremity deep vein thrombosis, the disease is very difficult to treat, the previous conservative treatment by drugs, elastic stockings, etc. is ineffective. We have recently opened the completely occluded veins of the lower extremities through open surgery for old thrombosis combined with minimally invasive stent placement, which greatly improves the return of blood to the lower extremities. This improves the patient’s serious symptoms such as leg swelling and ulcers. Improves the quality of life. Patients who have swollen legs and ulcers after venous thrombosis and whose conservative treatment is not effective come for consultation and treatment.
