The procedure of IVF

In vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF-ET) is often called “in vitro fertilization” in our country. In fact, in vitro fertilization is a special technique in which both eggs and sperm are taken outside the body and allowed to complete the fertilization process in an artificially controlled environment outside the body, and then the early embryos are transferred to the woman’s uterus where they are conceived as a child. Babies produced using in vitro fertilization techniques are called IVF, and these children also grow up in the mother’s womb. IVF technology is equivalent to in vitro fertilization. What is the procedure of IVF? 1. At least one month before the IVF-ET procedure, you should undergo the relevant examination. 2. Patients undergoing IVF-ET treatment should undergo ovulation monitoring at mid-ovulation and then ultrasound examination on the seventh day after ovulation (usually 20 to 21 days after menstruation) to understand the pelvic and ovarian conditions. Under the doctor’s guidance, use down regulation drugs. 3. On the third day of the next menstrual period (at the doctor’s discretion), you will have an ultrasound examination in the morning and start daily ovulation injections. Monitor the follicle development by ultrasound at regular intervals as directed by the doctor. If the follicle development is still not large enough, you can continue with the medication, so that the injection of ovulation-promoting drugs for about 8-13 days. 4. When ultrasound monitoring reveals that the dominant follicle is large enough, stop the medication on the same day and inject HCG 10,000 IU on the same night or as instructed by the doctor. 5. 32-36 hours after HCG injection, ultrasound-guided transvaginal puncture for egg retrieval, half an hour before the procedure, analgesic injection or local anesthesia, which is less invasive and requires no fear. The woman should take antibiotics to prevent infection after the procedure. After the egg retrieval, you can go home after 3-4 hours of rest and observation. 6. The male partner should ejaculate once five to seven days before the egg retrieval. In the morning of the day of the egg retrieval, the husband should come to collect the sperm at the same time. Wash your hands and vulva when collecting sperm, and masturbate after urination. After egg retrieval, progesterone injection will be started. 7. If the eggs are fertilized and able to divide, the resulting high-quality embryos are usually returned to the uterine cavity within 72 hours of egg retrieval. The process is completely painless and the number of embryos transferred can be 2-3 at a time depending on age. The remaining embryos can be frozen and preserved. After the embryo transfer, you can turn around and change your legs in bed, get up to urinate if you have an urge, stay in the hospital for 20 minutes to rest and go home, and avoid sexual life and sexual stimulation. 8.Morning urine or blood pregnancy test should be taken on the 14th day after the transfer, if it is positive, it is biochemical pregnancy, if it is negative, it is lost. 9, 7 weeks of pregnancy should come to the hospital for ultrasound examination, to understand the number of fetal sacs and heartbeat. Once more than three fetuses are found, reduction should be performed. You should contact us during the whole pregnancy period, which will help you to pass the pregnancy period smoothly.
