Can you get bowel cancer without polyps?

Not all bowel cancers evolve from polyps, but the cause of colorectal cancer is thought to be the result of a combination of environmental and genetic factors. Environmental factors mainly refer to diet, if long-term high-fat diet and insufficient dietary fiber intake, it will lead to high incidence of bowel cancer. Polyp is only a risk factor for bowel cancer, and there are several types of polyps. In the case of adenomatous polyps, there is a risk of cancer. Other types of polyps, such as inflammatory polyps, are almost never cancerous. Patients with inflammatory bowel disease are also likely to develop cancer, so polyps and bowel cancer are associated, but not all polyps will evolve into bowel cancer. If polyps are present, patients need to have timely polypectomy with electrocoagulation and electrodesiccation. If a swelling is found in the intestine, it needs to cooperate with the doctor to give active treatment.
