PICC is a central venous catheter placed through peripheral vein. Oncology patients should pay attention to avoiding strenuous exercise, infection and improper medical operation when using PICC. 1. Avoid strenuous exercise: avoid strenuous physical activities or carrying heavy things with the arm implanted with PICC, so as not to dislodge or displace the PICC tube, and only do some simple activities. 2. Avoid infection: Avoid swimming, taking a bath, etc. If you need to take a shower, wrap the catheter tightly with plastic wrap before bathing, and then use adhesive tape to tighten the top and bottom of the catheter, so as to avoid infection caused by water. 3. Avoid improper medical operation: the arm on the side of the PICC tube is forbidden to measure the blood pressure, so as not to cause the catheter to shift, etc. In addition, it should be avoided to collect blood for laboratory tests through the PICC tube, so as not to increase the chance of infection. Daily attention should be paid to the maintenance of the catheter, pay attention to observe the skin around the catheter with or without redness, swelling, oozing, etc., and should consult the doctor in time if any abnormality occurs.
