How long does it take for a secretory otitis media to heal?

Typically, secretory otitis media usually takes 1-4 weeks to gradually recover. Secretory otitis media is a non-purulent inflammatory disease characterized by fluid accumulation in the middle ear and hearing loss, and is a common disease in otolaryngology, most often in children. The disease is usually preceded by an upper respiratory tract infection and is characterized by a sensation of ear congestion and hearing loss, which can be severe enough to cause hearing loss in children and affect language development. The treatment time for this disease varies widely among individuals, and most patients choose anti-infective, nasal spray, mucus promoter and other medications to gradually recover in about 1 week. If medication is not effective, further tympanic membrane puncture surgery is required and the recovery time is extended accordingly, with some patients even taking about 1 month to recover. In addition, it is recommended that patients should pay attention to keeping warm in their daily life, exercise properly, and enhance their personal fitness to prevent the occurrence of secretory otitis media.
