Second, CT scan, especially 3D CT scan, can also be used for rib fractures that are not significantly displaced. Plain CT can detect obvious misalignment of the fractured ends, occurrence of shortening deformity, separation displacement, etc. While 3D CT, can observe the displacement of the whole rib fracture from 360 degrees and can determine whether there is a comminuted fracture or not. CT scan is important for displaced multiple rib fractures and can be used as a reference before surgery, and according to the results of CT scan, the treatment plan of surgery can be further determined and the rib fracture can be recovered.
