In March 2008, the prestigious journal The Lancet published a meta-analysis demonstrating that for both men and women, a body mass index (BMI) above the standard 5 kg/m2 was associated with a significantly higher chance of developing common cancers. Running is a very effective and simple form of exercise to reduce obesity. BMI is calculated as “weight (kg)/height (m) squared”, and the standard for BMI in China is 18.5-23.9 for normal, 24-27.9 for overweight, and 28 or more for obese.
