When you find a pimple, hair, blackhead or other blemish on your skin, many people’s first reaction is to squeeze it out or pick it off. In fact, “letting it go” is the best way to deal with these problems. Squeezing or picking these raised or blemished areas is tantamount to violently tearing the skin, which can easily lead to infection and even more serious problems.
The following 5 skin problems, do not use your hands to solve.
1, blackheads
Blackheads are sebum, cellular debris, and bacteria composed of hardened oil blockage. After contact with dust, and oxidation, the part exposed to the air gradually becomes black or brown, thus the name “blackhead”.
Don’t do this: Squeezing blackheads can cause deep bacterial penetration and skin trauma.
Do this: Use an exfoliating cleanser to move the blackheads blocking the opening of the hair follicle to the surface of the skin, thus removing them completely.
2.Hair endogenous
When a new hair is buried by keratin and cannot “break through” to the surface of the skin, it grows inward, as is common in post-hair removal skin. The ensuing red bumps and folliculitis make it painful and itchy, and very uncomfortable.
Don’t do it: Forcing the hair out with tweezers or other methods can ruin the skin and lead to inflammation or infection (e.g., staph infection or sepsis). In addition, squeezing inwardly growing hairs by hand can further irritate the hair follicle and worsen inflammation, leaving red marks that can last for months.
What can be done: Applying anti-inflammatory creams such as fusidic acid to the inward growth of the hair will reduce redness, itching and irritation. Washing the affected area with an exfoliating cleanser will also help to make the hair grow out of the skin surface.
3.Cornule rash
A small white bump on the skin is a chestnut papule, also known as “white acne”, which can occur at any age and gender, including newborns.
Don’t do this: Don’t squeeze these little white bumps with your hands. No matter how hard you try, it will be difficult to squeeze them without the help of a dermatologist or esthetician. Chestnut pimples are hard swellings originating from the epidermis or epithelium of the appendages and are not dirt or oil. If you force your hand to squeeze it, you are likely to irritate the surrounding skin, causing redness or inflammation, while the chestnut papule is intact.
This can be done: If such white bumps are bothering you, you can seek medical help to remove them with professional tools.
4. Keratosis pilaris
Keratosis pilaris, commonly known as “goose bumps”. It refers to the keratinization of the hair follicle sebaceous gland openings, forming “keratin plugs” that harden and then cause the pores to clog, forming small pimples like pinpoints.
Don’t do this: Squeezing with your hands or picking at the bumps with tools will not only do nothing, but will lead to redness and swelling of the skin and even scarring.
Do this: Some chemical exfoliation methods, such as applying salicylic or glycolic acid, can help with topical inflammation and can be done at home. If this does not work, it is advisable to seek professional help from a doctor.
5.Cystic acne
Cystic acne is commonly known as “pimples” and is characterized by red nodules and cysts of varying sizes. They are difficult to remove with over-the-counter medication.
Don’t do this: You should never squeeze such a pimple with your hands. In fact, it is very difficult for you to actually get close to cystic acne that grows under the skin. Worse yet, when it breaks down, it bleeds pus, and when it heals, it creates “pimple marks” that are difficult to cover up with makeup and are hard to remove.
The best way to get rid of acne is to consult a dermatologist and seek professional help.
