Liver cyst is simply a “blister” in the liver, the cause is not clear, the harm of liver cyst is that the “blister” occupies a certain space in the liver, compressing the surrounding normal liver tissue, so that the normal liver tissue in the area is less and less. In general, a single cyst or 2-3 cysts will not cause serious damage and will not lead to poor liver function (because 60% of liver function can still be normal), but if it is a polycystic liver (the whole liver is covered with cysts of different sizes), it may lead to poor liver function. Treatment: The first thing that needs to be made clear is that regardless of whether the cysts are large or small, large or small, there is no point in taking medication. Small cysts do not need to be treated because they squeeze the liver less and damage the liver tissue very little (that is, they are not serious). If the cyst is larger than 5 cm (there is no uniform standard to determine how big it needs to be treated) treatment can be considered. The first traditional method is to open the abdomen to drain the cyst. The purpose of opening and draining is to let the fluid in the cyst flow into the abdominal cavity, which can be absorbed by the peritoneum, and in rare cases it is still necessary to perform partial resection of the liver to eliminate the cyst. Second, laparoscopic cyst opening and drainage, which is the most used method at present, using minimally invasive technology to achieve the purpose of open surgery, so that the fluid in the cyst flows into the abdominal cavity and is absorbed by the peritoneum, thus eliminating the cyst. Third, B ultrasound-guided cyst puncture and drainage and curing of cyst endothelium, which must be repeatedly injected with curing agent to achieve better results.
