Liver cysts usually do not heal on their own. Liver cysts are single or multiple cystic lesions in the liver and can include simple liver cysts and multicystic liver disease. Most liver cysts are benign lesions of the liver, which do not affect the physiological functions of the body and liver due to their small size, and usually have no self-conscious symptoms, but the lesions do not subside on their own. Such patients usually do not need special treatment and regular review is sufficient. In case of gradual growth to the extent that it affects liver function or shows symptoms of compression of local tissues, drug, sclerotherapy or surgical treatment may be considered as options. Some congenital liver cysts develop slowly and can last for decades without seeing any development and do not require special therapeutic treatment. However, patients’ liver cysts do not disappear, they just do not significantly threaten their health. If some patients have heavy liver cysts, such as faster growth, larger cysts, concomitant infection, vague pain in the liver area, nausea, vomiting, jaundice, ascites, hepatomegaly and other concomitant symptoms, they need to receive timely treatment. Common treatment methods include: 1. drug treatment: patients with inflammation can choose suitable antibiotics for treatment; 2. sclerotherapy: inject appropriate amount of anhydrous ethanol into liver cysts to achieve the effect of cyst necrosis and disappearance by itself, but its effect is general and the recurrence rate is high; 3. surgical treatment: the treatment effect is better, generally based on liver cyst opening and draining or partial hepatectomy, and the recurrence rate relatively low. However, simple hepatic cyst puncture and drainage is generally not recommended, and its recurrence rate is relatively high. Because of the large individual differences, patients need not be overly nervous when they develop liver cysts, and it is recommended to actively go to the hospital for consultation and targeted treatment. Under the guidance of the doctor, choose the treatment that is suitable for you. Early treatment can avoid delays in the development of liver cysts, which can lead to more serious clinical symptoms, etc.
