Of course, we can eat well with a more noble intention – to eat for the benefit of all sentient beings. With this as a foundation, we can then correct our attitude. We will not overeat or be picky about what we eat for our own appetite, and we can make good use of the mind of the farmer and others in preparing the meal without wasting it, and more importantly, having eaten the meal, we will have enough energy to serve all sentient beings. The part of the main action is also divided into two parts: preparation and eating. When preparing, the meal should be served in two or three containers (one more for soup) at once, with the total amount being roughly half of the usual meal. The reason is to control the total amount at once, otherwise, the process of eating the food will make people unaware of moderation. Formal meals should be careful to eat a small bite at a time, all chewed before swallowing at once (one-time is the point), the general requirement of thirty-six chews per mouth, if found not all broken, then adjust the amount of each mouth, of course, the ingredients eaten on this quite a big impact. When chewing and swallowing, pay attention to feel the deliciousness of the food, experience the nourishment of the food to the body, and give thanks to the people who work hard to provide this food. It is advisable to forbid talking when eating, and the height of your eyes should not be higher than the bowl that holds the food, and it is best to put down the dishes after taking a bite into your mouth so that you do not keep eating. After eating the meal, we should give thanks to all sentient beings for their kindness to us, and use the energy we have gained from eating to serve them. In this way, chewing slowly will not only adjust our excessive eating, but will also have a corresponding conditioning for our body and mind.
