What is a breast lift?

Age, weight loss, pregnancy, breastfeeding and other factors can change the shape and texture of your breasts, causing them to sag and affecting your appearance and life. A breast lift can restore the “youthful” shape of your breasts. Who is a candidate for a breast lift? If you have one of the following conditions, you may be a candidate for a breast lift: 1. Loose skin on the breasts with the nipples positioned below the inframammary fold. 2.The breasts have lost their normal elasticity and have a cystic sensation when touched. 3.Bilateral breast shape is asymmetrical, with one nipple position higher and one lower. 4.You are satisfied with the shape and size of your breasts when you put on the bra, but you are dissatisfied when you take off the bra. 5.You are reluctant to go to public bathrooms because of the shape of your breasts 6.You are worried about your breasts and feel that they are affecting your life in general. What do I need to do before the consultation? During the consultation, you can communicate with the doctor and tell him your requirements and expectations. The doctor will examine and measure your breast size, shape, skin texture and the position of the nipple and areola, and then design a preliminary surgical plan based on his experience and your requirements. What is the incision for a breast lift? Depending on the degree of sagging of your breasts, your choice of surgical incision will vary. Generally, for mild or moderate breast sagging, the incision is made only around the areola. The scars are more hidden due to the difference in color between the skin and the areola junction. If you have severe sagging, then in addition to the incision around the areola, a vertical incision or an additional curved incision in the inframammary fold will be made directly below the areola. In general, the scars will not be very visible and will not be visible from the outside after wearing a bra or swimsuit. Are there many risks associated with a breast lift? There are risks associated with any surgery, but fortunately significant complications from a breast lift are relatively rare and thousands of people have successful breast lifts each year with few major problems and a high level of satisfaction with the procedure. Your surgeon will meet with you face-to-face before the surgery to explain the risks of the procedure, which can generally be minimized if you follow the surgeon’s instructions to the letter. Will a breast lift affect future breastfeeding? A breast lift will not damage your breast tissue, so the procedure generally has no effect on breastfeeding, so a lift can be performed either before or after breastfeeding. What is the preparation before surgery? Before surgery, your surgeon will make a general assessment of your general health to determine if you can tolerate the surgery. For a smooth recovery after surgery, avoid menstruation. Do I need to be hospitalized for this surgery? Will I feel any pain during and after the surgery? If your sagging breasts are not very severe, the surgery can be performed in an outpatient setting under local anesthesia. If your sagging breasts are more severe, you will need to be hospitalized for the surgery, which is usually done under intravenous sedation. When can I return to normal work after surgery? You will be able to resume your normal work life about a week after surgery, but we would like you to be careful not to overexert your upper extremities during early activities and to avoid large and excessive movements of the whole body. What if I feel that my breasts are not large enough? If you feel that your breasts will not be full enough after a lift, you can choose to have breast implants followed by a breast lift, or a breast lift followed by breast augmentation with autologous fat transfer. You can choose the surgical option that you are satisfied with after a thorough discussion with your surgeon. How long do the results last? The shape of the breasts will gradually return to natural from three months after surgery, but with age and gravity, the shape of the breasts will still change, and the duration of good shape varies from person to person, but usually lasts for several years.
