AstraZeneca’s Tagrisso (AZD9291) has received too much attention from patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) from its FDA approval on November 13, 2015 to its launch earlier this year. As a third-line drug for the treatment of EGFR mutations in NSCLC, Tagrisso has emerged as the light of dawn, exciting people in the dark. Tagrisso has received consecutive Breakthroughtherapy and Orphandrug designation designations and Priority review designation awards from the FDA, and was finally approved for marketing through the accelerated pathway. AZD9291 is naturally very good, but the price is also alarming. Currently 80mg of AZD9291 is available for patients to take for 1 month, and the price of the drug varies from HK$125,000 to US$20,000 depending on the channel of purchase, which translates into a minimum of RMB 100,000. Indications: 1, EGFR mutation, already taking first-line targeted drugs Erythroxa or Troche or Kemena and developed resistance, and/or taking second-line targeted drugs Avatinib developed resistance. 2. T790M mutation was detected by genetic testing after resistance to first-line drugs and/or second-line targeted drugs.
