Minimally invasive surgical treatment of pediatric inguinal hernia, as a common disease, has been slowly recognized by the parents of children, especially the minimally invasive day surgery treatment carried out in our hospital, which is well received by the parents of children. The so-called day surgery means that the operation is performed on the same day and the child is discharged on the same day, without the need for a long hospital stay. This also fully reflects the safety of minimally invasive surgery. However, it is inevitable to encounter individual children with fever and edema after discharge. The following is a compilation of possible situations and treatments after discharge: 1. 2 hours after surgery, after complete awakening from anesthesia, a liquid diet, such as water, porridge, noodles, etc., can be introduced. Children who drink breast milk or milk can drink milk in moderation 6 hours after they are fully awake. 12 hours later, if there is no nausea, vomiting, drowsiness and other abnormalities, they can eat and drink normally. 2. After surgery, when the child is not fully awake and drowsy, please tilt the head to one side to avoid accidental aspiration during vomiting. When the child is not fully awake, feeding is strictly prohibited. 3.Low fever within 3 days after surgery is a normal surgical absorption fever, please do not be anxious, if the temperature exceeds 38℃, you can take relevant antipyretic drugs orally, if the high fever persists, it may be caused by the child’s postoperative cold and other conditions, please go to the local hospital or return to our hospital for examination and treatment. 4. It is normal for edema to appear in the scrotum after surgery. Generally, edema can disappear completely within one month, but in individual children with giant hernia, edema may be heavier and disappear slowly, so parents should not worry. 5. In children with syringomyelia, the scrotum is usually enlarged after surgery, and individual scrotal masses may appear, please don’t worry, they will disappear within one month. 6.If the scrotum is bruised after surgery, the swelling increases rapidly in a short time, and the child cries violently and restlessly or the adult is in severe pain, please contact our hospital in time or return to hospital for observation and treatment. 7.Postoperative incision band-aids do not need to be replaced, they can be removed after one week. 8.Adult patients should try to quit smoking and alcohol, keep bowel movement smooth, avoid coughing as much as possible, if you cough, please press the incision lightly with your hand. Please do not stay in bed for a long time, and get out of bed on the day of surgery to prevent deep vein thrombosis and decubitus ulcer formation after surgery, and to reduce the chance of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular accidents after surgery.
