Acupuncture is a uniquely Chinese method of treating disease. It is an “internal disease external treatment” medical technique. It is used to treat diseases of the whole body through the conduction of meridians and acupoints and the application of certain manipulation methods. In clinical practice, Chinese medicine diagnoses the cause of the disease, identifies the key to the disease, identifies the nature of the disease, determines which meridians and internal organs the lesion belongs to, identifies which type of disease it belongs to, and makes a diagnosis of epithelial, cold and heat, deficiency and reality. Then the corresponding prescription of acupuncture points is made and treatment is carried out. In order to open the meridians, regulate the qi and blood, bring the yin and yang into relative balance, and harmonize the functions of the internal organs, so as to achieve the purpose of preventing and treating diseases. The function of unblocking the meridians is to clear the blocked meridians and make them play their normal physiological role, which is the most basic and direct therapeutic function of acupuncture. The meridians “belong to the internal organs and are externally connected to the limbs and joints”, and the movement of qi and blood is one of their main physiological functions. When the meridians are blocked, the flow of qi and blood is obstructed, and the clinical manifestations are pain, numbness, swelling, and ecchymosis. Acupuncture and moxibustion selects the appropriate acupoints and acupuncture techniques and trigeminal needles for bleeding to open the meridians and normalize the flow of qi and blood. Reconciliation of Yin and Yang The function of acupuncture and moxibustion to reconcile Yin and Yang is to transform the body from a state of imbalance of Yin and Yang to a state of balance, which is the ultimate goal of acupuncture treatment. The mechanism of disease is complex, but in general, it can be summarized as an imbalance of yin and yang. The role of acupuncture in harmonizing yin and yang is accomplished through the properties of the meridians, the combination of meridian points and acupuncture techniques. The function of acupuncture is to support the body’s positive energy and dispel the evil. The process of disease development and regression is essentially the process of the struggle between positive and evil. Acupuncture and moxibustion can play the role of supporting the positive and dispelling the evil. Acupuncture therapy has many advantages: first, there is a wide range of indications, can be used for internal, external, gynecological, pediatric, five senses and other departments of the treatment and prevention of a variety of diseases; second, the effect of treatment of disease is relatively rapid and significant, especially with good excitement body functions, improve the ability to resist disease and sedation, analgesia, etc.; third, the operation method is simple and easy; fourth, medical costs are economic; fifth, no or very few side effects The first is that it is safe and reliable, and can be used in conjunction with other therapies for comprehensive treatment. Because acupuncture treatment is mainly through the adjustment of the patient’s own body function, so compared with Western medicine, acupuncture therapy will not cause liver and kidney damage (most Western drugs are absorbed through the gastric mucosa into the bloodstream, and then through the liver and kidney metabolism out of the body, this process will increase the burden of the stomach, liver and kidney, serious cases will cause functional damage), there will be no side effects (Western drugs will have dependence, addiction, drug resistance, etc.). Therefore, it is a wise choice to use acupuncture therapy when conditions permit.
