The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine? Ling Shu? The “Organ” says: “The meridians are used to move the blood and energy and to support yin and yang”. The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine? Ling Shu? The mouth question” says: “The eyes are the gathering of the clan veins”. Also, the Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Internal Medicine? Ling Shu? The “Twelve meridians, three hundred and sixty-five veins, whose blood and gas all go up to the face and go to the empty orifices, and whose essence and Yang gas go up to the eyes and become the eyes”. This shows that the eye and the internal organs are connected by the meridians, which maintain an organic connection, and that it is the meridians that constantly transport the qi and blood to maintain the visual function of the eye. In Chinese medicine, there are twelve meridians, three yin and three yang, the main meridians are connected at the beginning and the end, and the side meridians are intertwined. The blood runs throughout the body in the meridians and tunnels, starting from the hand Taiyin lung meridian and ending at the foot Convulsive Yin liver meridian. Therefore, from the perspective of the path of meridians, it can be said that all 12 meridians are directly or indirectly connected to the eye. There are 8 main meridians connected with the eye, which are: (a) hand Yangming large intestine meridian its branches up the head and face, left and right intersect in the human middle, and then up the nostrils, following the Wo Liao, finally under the eye nose next to the Ying Xiang point, and the foot Yangming Stomach meridian, and through the foot Yangming Stomach meridian, and indirect contact with the eye. (2) Foot Yang Ming Stomach meridian is intersected by the Hand Yang Ming Large Intestine meridian, starting from the Ying Xiang point next to the nose under the eyes, going up and intersecting left and right at the root of the nose, crossing the eye point of the inner canthus, and meeting with the Foot Sun Bladder meridian, after which it follows the lateral side of the nose, descending through the lower part of the eye orbit, and in the upper teeth. In addition, the main meridian of the foot Yangming Stomach meridian, which is separate from the main meridian, also goes up to the root of the nose and below the eye orbit, and is directly connected to the eye system. (3) Hand Shaoyin Heart meridian and its branches, from the heart system on the pharynx, connected with the eye system; hand Shaoyin of other (called Tongli), people in the heart. In the middle, the tongue is connected to the eye system. In addition, the hand Shaoyin heart meridian out of the line of the main meridian, also belongs to the heart, up from the face, the eye canthus. (d) Hand Sun Small Intestine meridian This meridian has two branches going up to the eye socket. One of them is connected to the eye canthus and the other to the inner canthus of the eye, both of which are directly connected to the eye. (e) The foot sun bladder meridian starts at the eye socket of the inner canthus of the eye, where it meets the hand sun small intestine meridian, and then the brain, which is connected to the eye system. (6) Hand Shaoyang Sanjiao meridian This meridian is connected to the eye through two branches. One of them goes to the lower part of the eye and one to the eye socket. (7) Foot Shaoyang Gallbladder meridian starts from the pupil body of the eye canthus and meets the Hand Shaoyang Sanjiao meridian there, then goes up to the corner of the head and down behind the ear, and from behind the ear it branches and then travels to the eye canthus; the other branch goes down from the canthus to Da Ying and joins the Hand Shaoyin meridian to reach below the eye socket. The main meridian, which is separate from the main meridian, also travels up the head and face and is tied to the eye system, after which it joins its main meridian at the eye canthus. (H) The foot fructus yin liver meridian follows the throat, after which it enters the lower forehead and connects with the eye system. In clinical practice, acupoints around the eyes are selected for acupuncture in combination with acupuncture points throughout the body according to the identification of evidence, and the effect of brightening the eyes is achieved by unblocking the meridians and qi and blood.
