Researchers at the Mayo Cancer Clinical Research Center in the U.S. said the study found that of the nine diets and lifestyles recommended by the American Association for Cancer Research Medicine to keep cancer away, women who follow fewer than one have a 35 percent increased risk of developing cancer compared to women who follow at least six. People who live a healthy lifestyle only occasionally have a 42 percent higher risk of developing cancer and dying from a variety of cancers compared to those who live a healthy lifestyle. Nine healthy lifestyle rules to ensure freedom from cancer: 1. Don’t smoke. 2. Avoid being overweight and limit adult weight gain to 11 pounds from age 18. Do a moderate amount of exercise every day, plus at least one workout a week to keep you energized. 4.Eat at least five different kinds of vegetables and fruits every day. 5, eat at least 14 ounces a day, about seven servings of whole grains, cereals and other complex carbohydrates, and reduce the intake of processed foods and refined sugars. 6, for women, only one glass of wine per day. 7, limit red meat consumption to no more than 3 ounces per day. 8.Limit the intake of fatty foods, especially from animal body fat, and limit the total calories to 30 percent. 9, limit the intake of preserved foods, and in cooking added salt to less than 2400 mg of sodium per day. Although the study began by following only women between the ages of 55 and 69, it found that the same may hold true for men and women of other ages; the findings were published in a recent issue of the journal Cancer Epidemiology. The researchers concluded that quitting smoking remains a priority in order to reduce the likelihood of developing cancer, although maintaining an ideal weight and exercising regularly are equally important. To prevent cancer, people should not choose between smoking and obesity, as both are equally responsible for cancer and other diseases.
