Guidelines for the use of ciliary muscle paralyzing agents

In order to rationalize the selection of ciliary muscle paralyzing agents, the following industry standards and American Clinical Ophthalmology Guidelines for Refractive Error Amblyopia and Strabismus in Children and Adolescents 2014 are used: Special emphasis on Atropine Ophthalmic Gel for pupil dilatation Preferred population: children under 6 years of age for their first pupil dilatation examination, children with internal strabismus for initial optometry, and children with suspected moderate to high hyperopia. Rapid dilated pupil examination is unstable. Relative indications: Children with large differences in refractive error after fast dilatation, including differences in either of the spherical lens and column lens astigmatism axes, and significant internal strabismus (high AC/A) 3. Use atropine eye gel for dilated pupils Usage: 1 drop per dose, 3 times daily, 9 doses total. Immediately after each dose, compress the tear sac area for 1-2 minutes and inform the child’s parents of the patient’s flushing. Dry mouth. Increased heart rate and photophobia. Tropicamide drops for dilated pupils Usage: One drop per dose, every 5 minutes for a total of 6 doses, then wait 20 minutes for an optometric examination.
