Left abdominal pain is not a disease, but a common clinical symptom. The etiology of left abdominal pain is complex. In general, if the pain is in the left upper abdomen, acute pancreatitis, splenic infarction and left kidney stone are more common. Some patients with myocardial infarction and pleurisy may have pain involving the left abdomen. In those with pain in the lower left abdomen, it is usually seen in left ureteral stones, lesions of the colon and gynaecological conditions such as adnexitis, torsion of ovarian cysts and ruptured ovarian corpus luteum in women.
