What about teratomas?

The treatment of teratomas is determined primarily by the site of occurrence and the type of pathology. Benign tumors (i.e. mature teratomas) are treated primarily with surgery on the affected side. Malignant tumors (i.e. immature tumors) require further chemotherapy after surgery. Treatment in a regular hospital is recommended. When the teratoma occurs in the ovary, for women with reproductive needs, tumor debulking surgery or removal of the affected adnexa only is adopted. Postmenopausal women may consider total hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy. Postoperative chemotherapy for malignant tumors is usually 3 to 6 courses. When the teratoma occurs in the testicles, the removal surgery will affect the sperm count and fertility, etc. It is necessary to take the appropriate treatment plan after discussing with the doctor together. When patients find teratoma, it is recommended to consult the doctor in time and actively treat it under the doctor’s guidance.
