How should SLE patients eat?

Patients often inquire about the diet of lupus patients. In fact, there is no special diet for SLE patients, and as long as there are no food allergies, there is usually no need for contraindications. However, certain foods, such as celery, cilantro (which can increase photosensitivity) and figs containing psoralen, mushrooms containing hydrazine groups, smoked foods, alfalfa seeds and pods containing cuttlefish, etc. can trigger lupus and should be avoided as much as possible. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to low-salt diet and eat more fruits such as bananas, apples, oranges, tomatoes and other foods containing potassium, but patients with renal failure and high blood potassium should not eat foods containing high potassium, and patients with diabetes should also limit staple foods and sweets. Therefore, patients with lupus erythematosus should have a light diet, low in salt, low in fat and high in protein.
