The purpose and significance of post-operative middle ear follow-up

Postoperative follow-up of middle ear surgery plays an important role in its treatment process. Our hospital’s habit: incision removal both discharged from the hospital, the surgical cavity filling is not cleaned. The cavity filling must be cleaned within half a month after surgery. After cleaning, there will be ear leakage, and dry ear will take 1-3 months. Before dry ear, it is necessary to place cotton balls in the external ear canal to block dust (in the environment where dust may occur) because the middle ear function has not recovered. Full recovery of hearing is about 3 months after surgery. During the recovery process, granulation of the surgical cavity or narrowing of the external ear canal may occur and need to be addressed at any time. Therefore as a surgeon it is advisable to ask the patient to follow up on time as required to facilitate the recovery of the disease.
