How long does crizotinib take to become resistant

Relevant studies have shown that the median progression-free survival of taking crizotinib is 10.9 months, however, after taking crizotinib to see the effect, often within 1 to 2 years, the tumor will be uncontrolled, and progress again, which is often said to be resistant to the drug. Crizotinib is a first-line targeted drug used in non-small cell lung cancer. Although Crizotinib has a good therapeutic effect, but this drug can not be taken for a long time, the general time of taking more than 11 months or so may cause drug resistance, resulting in the drug can not play a proper therapeutic effect. Crizotinib resistance time is related to the patient’s genetic variations, most patients with ALK gene mutations will develop resistance after 1~2 years of treatment, after which further testing and replacement of the target drug will be required. However, some patients can continue taking it and it takes several years for resistance to develop. Common adverse reactions to crizotinib include hepatotoxicity, interstitial pneumonitis, bradycardia, and non-infectious pneumonia. Crizotinib is contraindicated in people who are allergic to its ingredients. Crizotinib carries certain risks and it is recommended that patients need to be guided by a specialist while taking it.
