Levofloxacin belongs to the quinolone class of antibiotics. It is not recommended to drink alcohol while taking the drug, and to drink alcohol one day after stopping the drug. Drinking alcohol while taking levofloxacin can cause blood vessels to dilate and increase permeability, which can easily lead to the spread of infection and aggravate the condition. Levofloxacin requires the liver for decomposition and metabolism, and drinking alcohol will increase the burden on the liver and may cause impaired liver function. In addition, drinking alcohol while taking levofloxacin may also increase the risk of adverse drug reactions, which may easily lead to nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, epigastric fullness, gastrointestinal bleeding and many other conditions, which are not conducive to the efficacy of the drug and the healing of the infection. Therefore, while taking levofloxacin, patients are advised to eat lightly, drink plenty of water, and seek medical attention in case of allergy, gastrointestinal and central nervous system adverse reactions.
