Radiographic findings supported the diagnosis of the fracture, and after comprehensive judgment, surgical treatment was chosen to securely fix the fracture site, ensure ankle joint stability, and accelerate the smooth recovery of ankle joint function. After the operation, the patient’s pain symptoms were relieved and the ankle joint resumed its activities. After using an ice pack on the ankle joint, the symptoms could be relieved for a short period of time, but after removing the ice pack, the symptoms would aggravate again, and she did not dare to walk or stand due to the fear of pain. Careful examination revealed significant swelling of the medial aspect of the right ankle joint, with typical displacement deformity, bone rubbing sensation, and bone rubbing sound. According to the patient’s traumatic fracture condition, it is recommended that the patient should choose surgical treatment for better results. If conservative treatment is chosen, i.e., manipulative reduction followed by plaster or splint fixation, the joint surface damage caused by intra-articular fracture cannot be well recovered, and traumatic arthritis is likely to occur in the long term. Surgical treatment is to stabilize the fracture by internal fixation with incisional reduction screws and to restore the joint surface flatness. Before the fracture heals, weight bearing may cause displacement of the fracture end and fracture of the internal fixation, so extra care should be taken. During the recovery process, occasional swelling and pain symptoms can be treated symptomatically.
