How to treat maxillary sinus fractures

For a fracture in the maxillary sinus, if it is in the anterior wall of the maxillary sinus and there is no very obvious collapse, the treatment is usually conservative and can be based on the application of herbs or Chinese medicines that activate blood circulation, reduce blood stasis, swelling and pain to reduce swelling and pain. Cold compresses can also be given locally early on, either with ice or ice water mixture applied externally, and hot towels, salt bags or hot water bags can be applied 2-3 days after the fracture. Traditional methods, such as rolling a hard-boiled egg back and forth over the localized injury, can also be used to promote swelling and to speed up the healing of the fracture as appropriate. If there is a fracture of the anterior wall of the maxillary sinus with a very obvious collapse, which may later affect the appearance of the face, surgical treatment must be given, usually surgical incision and repositioning, and if necessary, internal fixation surgery.
