What are supraventricular premature beats?

Depending on the site of origin, premature beats can be categorized as atrial, ventricular, and atrioventricular junctional; of these, atrial and atrioventricular junctional are also known as supraventricular premature beats.

1. The causes of supraventricular premature beats are complex and may be related to non-disease factors or may be caused by diseases.

(1) Non-disease factors: for example, emotional excitement, staying up late, drinking alcohol and other bad habits, digitalis and other drug effects can also be triggered.

(2) Disease factors: such as hyperthyroidism heart disease, coronary atherosclerotic heart disease.

2. Patients with supraventricular premature beats may have dizziness, fatigue, palpitations and other manifestations, and some patients may also have chest tightness, dyspnea and other symptoms; the treatment of supraventricular premature beats should be determined according to the frequency of supraventricular premature beats and the patient’s clinical symptoms; according to the frequency of its occurrence, it can be divided into episodic premature beats and frequent premature beats.

(1) Episodic premature supraventricular beats without obvious discomfort generally do not require special treatment.

(2) Frequent premature beats with obvious discomfort can be treated with medications such as metoprolol tartrate under the guidance of a doctor.

(3) If the patient has an organic underlying disease, such as hyperthyroidism heart disease, the patient should be treated with drugs such as methimazole and metoprolol tartrate under the supervision of a doctor.

After the discovery of supraventricular premature beats, treatment should be carried out under the guidance of specialized doctors to avoid affecting personal health.
