How to fight the flu in winter?

First of all, we should realize that influenza and cold are both acute respiratory infections caused by various viruses, the difference is that the former is mostly caused by influenza A, B and C viruses, and the high season in the north is winter and spring, as the population is generally susceptible, highly contagious, with obvious symptoms of systemic toxicity, high fever, headache, fatigue, muscle aches, etc., which can affect work, plus the elderly and other high-risk groups are prone to serious complications such as pneumonia and myocarditis. The latter is also called “common cold”, relatively light, commonly known as “cold”, no obvious seasonality, mainly with respiratory symptoms, such as sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, cough, etc., rarely with high fever. The whole body symptoms are not obvious. Secondly, it is important to realize that although there is no specific medicine for influenza, it is preventable and influenza vaccine is a safe and effective method, especially for older children and people with chronic diseases who are prone to complications. It is important to wash hands regularly, especially after contact with respiratory secretions, maintain good personal hygiene and environmental sanitation, keep the mouth, throat and nasal cavity clean and hygienic, and achieve balanced nutrition, proper exercise, adequate rest, open windows and ventilation, and wear masks outside. Do not advocate the use of preventive medicine and abuse of antibiotics.
