Patients with frozen shoulder can swim. Swimming exercises are very helpful for the recovery of frozen shoulder. Frozen shoulder is mainly caused by adhesions and contractures of the ligaments and joint capsule around the shoulder joint. A sterile inflammatory edema will form around the shoulder joint, resulting in significant pain around the shoulder joint and limited shoulder lifting function. Swimming activities can help to release the ligaments and joint capsule around the shoulder joint by lifting, pulling and exerting force on the shoulder joint. Swimming is also a kind of whole body muscle coordination exercise, which is beneficial to the function exercise of whole body muscles. Therefore, patients with frozen shoulder can perform more swimming activities and also use other functional exercises of the shoulder joint parts to restore the normal shoulder joint function in frozen shoulder.
