Can breast cancer patients have sex?

Because I am a female doctor and have an innate sense of intimacy with my patients, many of them have quietly asked me about sex after breast cancer surgery, and some patients mistakenly say that sex increases the chance of recurrence. In fact, you can have sex at any time during your treatment and afterwards, if you feel physically able and willing.       Adequate sexual activity is an important sign of restoring your pre-morbid quality of life. There is no research information about this in our country. However, a Korean study of breast cancer patients under 50 years of age found that 38% of patients resumed sex at 3 months after surgery and 49% at 6 months, so you can see that they all recovered during chemotherapy/radiotherapy.       During chemotherapy, your ovarian function is suppressed and you may experience temporary amenorrhea, with changes in libido and vaginal dryness, which may require topical lubricants.       During radiation therapy, the skin on your irradiated side of the breast or chest will be red and swollen.
