New Trend of Breast Cancer Surgery DD Breast Preservation Surgery

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women, second only to cervical cancer, and the incidence is on the rise. Women with high risk factors for breast cancer have a higher chance of developing breast cancer, mostly seen in women between the ages of 35-55. “I want life, I want beauty!” This may represent the voice of this group of patients. At present, the treatment of breast cancer still mostly adopts a comprehensive treatment based on surgery, and most of the surgical methods commonly used in domestic hospitals require the removal of the whole breast, which makes many beauty-loving patients face the disease and suffer the mental pressure of losing their female sexual characteristics at the same time. In fact, most of the patients who have lost their breasts due to conventional surgery are early stage breast cancer, so they can choose another surgical method, DD breast-conserving surgery, or breast-conserving surgery for short. Breast-conserving surgery requires complete and thorough removal of the tumor tissue, while preserving most of the surrounding normal breast tissue and clearing the lymph nodes in the axilla that may have metastasized. Therefore, the shape of the breast after breast-conserving surgery is less altered and does not affect the normal function of the affected breast. The results of early stage patients using breast-conserving surgery are the same as those of previous mastectomies, but after surgery, patients can achieve the same appearance as normal people, reduce or disappear the sense of inferiority, and enjoy the same life as normal people. As early as 1991, the American Cancer Agency recommended breast-conserving surgery as the preferred surgical option for patients with early-stage breast cancer. Currently, breast-conserving surgery is widely accepted by patients in Europe and America, accounting for more than 60% of all breast cancer surgeries, and the trend is increasing year by year. Breast-conserving surgery has been carried out in our department since 2001 and has achieved good results.
