What should I expect from a patient after NUSS?

  NUSS surgery is a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of funnel chest, in which a special metal plate is implanted in the body to lift and shape the anterior chest wall, and the implant is usually left in the body for 2-3 years before being removed. Postoperative patients should pay attention to the following issues: 1. Avoid physical activities that may involve physical contact or external collision for the first 3 months after surgery; 2. Avoid lifting heavy objects on the upper limbs for the first 3 months after surgery; 3. Avoid carrying a double-shoulder backpack for the first 3 months after surgery; 4. Stay in the supine position when sleeping for the first 1 month after surgery; 5. Walking is a good form of exercise that can be started as early as possible after surgery; 6. Maintain a correct sitting posture. Avoid sitting with crooked body; 7. If fever, severe chest pain, difficulty in breathing, wound redness and overflow please contact the surgeon promptly.
