The general surgery department successfully performed a minimally invasive resection via posterior sacral approach for a patient suffering from a giant anterior sacral cyst, marking the hospital’s leading level in this surgery in the province. Ms. Li, a 52-year-old woman, recently felt discomfort in the anal area and had difficulty in defecating, so she went to a large hospital in Zhengzhou and found a huge tumor in front of her sacrum and behind her rectum. Due to the large size and deep location of the tumor, coupled with the patient’s history of pelvic surgery and heavy pelvic adhesions, the tumor could not be completely removed and she was suggested to be transferred to Beijing for treatment. Later, Ms. Li went to the general surgery department of Huaihe Hospital of Hebei University for consultation. In early April, under the guidance of Professor Ren Xuequn of the department, Deputy Chief Physician Hu Junhong successfully performed a tumor resection via posterior sacral approach for her, and the patient was discharged one week later. It is reported that the operation lasted two hours, with only 50 ml of bleeding, and the tumor removed was larger than a fist.
