There are 2 types of traditional dentures. One is a removable denture and the other is a fixed denture (also known as a fixed bridge). Since there are no roots, movable dentures are mainly used to bear the load of chewing with the help of an abutment, which is limited and uncomfortable for patients, and also more troublesome. At the same time, the wire hooks on the denture also affect the aesthetics. Fixed dentures are aesthetically pleasing, but because they use the neighboring teeth on both sides of the missing tooth as abutments to bear the chewing force, the weight-bearing capacity is not ideal, and the surface layer of the neighboring teeth has to be damaged when preparing them. Implant dentures are made by inserting metal roots in the tooth space between the missing teeth and then placing crowns on these metal roots, so there is no need for denture trays, no need for preparation of adjacent teeth, and good weight-bearing capacity.
