Typical case–lung adenocarcinoma argon helium knife surgery combined with chemotherapy

Patient: Sun, female, 52 years old, on November 4, 2009, chest CT examination showed: left lung lower lobe occupancy, considering lung cancer and lower lobe obstructive inflammation. on November 10, bronchoscopy brushing + lung puncture pathology biopsy showed: lung adenocarcinoma. On November 15, 2009, he came to the 24th ward of the Department of Oncology of our hospital for the first time. At that time, CT film: on November 18, 2009 in our department under local anesthesia, CT-guided argon helium knife treatment of left lung cancer, during the argon helium knife puncture (white needle-like), local ultra-low-temperature freezing (-160 degrees Celsius), the tumor around the argon helium knife freezing was significantly reduced density, as follows: argon helium knife surgery after the patient has been in our department for 3 cycles of systemic intravenous chemotherapy: cisplatin + Zephyr. On March 7, 2010, the patient underwent a follow-up chest CT, and the original tumor in the left lung had shrunk significantly, with only fibrosis and some atelectasis remaining, and the treatment effect of argon helium knife had been similar to that of surgical resection. The patient is currently undergoing radiation therapy to the mediastinal lymph nodes of the chest in our department. Changes in blood tumor indexes before and after argon helium knife surgery: November 07, 2009 CEA 3.8ug/L; NSE 36.3ug/L. December 21, 2009 CEA 1.89ng/mL; NSE 18.15ng/mL. February 24, 2010 CEA 3.06ng/mL; NSE 10.06ng/mL. Overall assessment: Ar-He knife treatment of lung cancer is less traumatic, less painful, and has precise efficacy. Postoperative chemotherapy and radiotherapy can significantly reduce the pain of patients, improve the quality of survival and prolong their lives. The comprehensive treatment method of Ar-He knife combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy is the best choice for patients with middle and advanced lung cancer, lung cancer of the elderly and lung cancer that cannot be surgically resected. At present, the 24 wards of Oncology Department of Shandong Province Qianfoshan Hospital have introduced the Ar-He knife treatment system since 2004, and have successfully treated more than 300 cases of lung cancer patients, which has gained very remarkable results and brought new hope to the majority of lung cancer patients.
