How soon can I walk with a fractured fibula?

A fibula fracture can take at least 2 months before walking, depending on the individual. If the fibula is not significantly displaced, the patient can undergo conservative treatment, usually with plaster or brace fixation for 4-6 weeks, bed rest for about 2 months, and no weight-bearing on the affected limb until the fracture is completely healed. If the patient has a significant fracture of the fibula, surgical treatment is required, and it usually takes 3 months before normal weight-bearing training and activity on the ground can be performed. During the treatment period, patients with fibula fractures need to rest in bed and can take nutritious food and drugs that promote fracture growth orally to help accelerate the healing process. Regular follow-up examinations are also recommended to clarify the recovery of the fracture.
